24 Hour Trail Race FAQ
As questions come in, we'll post them here for everyone to see (as well as on the website).
Q: Do I have to run the entire 24 hours?
A: Nope! You can tap out whenever you feel like it. If all you want to do is run a 5k, then you can be done after a single lap. We’re even planning on a little ceremony, commemorating the time you spent in the race. Just be aware, once you tap out, you are DONE. There are no take backs.
Q: Can I take a break for a while? Maybe get a short nap?
A: Absolutely! All you need to do is let the staff know you are taking a break. We plan on having a spot where you can hang your race bib while you are taking a little R and R. When you’re ready to come back to the course, let us know and we’ll give you your bib back and send you back out on your merry way!
Q: What’s the deal with bathrooms?
A: We will have access to fully operational restrooms. Running water and flushing toilets! No port-o-potties! From what we understand, there are at least three stalls for each restroom.
Q: How much will it cost to park?
A: One million dollars! Seriously, it won’t cost a thing. But if we get a large crowd, then you may have to park a little ways from the Start/Finish line. But if you’re going to be running three mile loops all day long, then this shouldn’t be a problem (until you’re done, that is).
Q: February is cold. Will you have places to get out of the cold?
A: Yes. The transition area is inside a heated building. We’ll have a warming tent. We’re planning on having a roaring campfire going all night long (maybe all day too). There will even be warm drinks for runners and ruckers as well as some selection of warm food at the aid station.
Q: What’s the cell coverage like at the venue?
A: Pretty decent at the Start/Finish area. The course— not sure yet. We’re heading out there early January to finalize the course and we’ll let you know after our visit.
Q: Can I charge my phone there?
A: Yes, if you bring a battery block. Maybe, if there are available outlets. No, if you’re in the middle of the woods (unless you have a 3 mile long extension cord).
Q: Can I use trekking poles?
A: Yep.
